The facilities of the accommodation is really complete, with a well equipped common area, study room, laundry room and even a convenient store within the accommodation grounds. However the residential assistants were not that helpful in ensuring the discipline or offering support to residents in the accommodation. It's quite difficult to contact them, and they usually don't really handle disciplinary problems in accommodation effectively. The events organised by them were also not too interesting or welcoming to every student. Nevertheless that being said, the service department, cleaning team and the receptionist in the accommodation still provide wonderful service. The previous downside I mentioned were covered by them, and they are there for students when we need them. Thus overall its still a wonderful and safe place to stay as a student.

My room here in Elms is a standard size room but it has more than enough storage. It is also very well finished and decorated. The kitchen is very nice and modern. The wifi is of a good standard but often slows down due to some residents having gaming devices etc. The treehouse is a great student hub with a large study room and free tea/coffee is available in the evening.

The location of elms village is okay, but would be nice if it were a bit closer to campus. It is about a 25 minute walk and whilst this is not awful. It is not ideal. The security is good and the rooms are kitted out very well, with modern facilities and style of bedroom. There is a shop in elms village with cheap basic goods.

Given one of the oldest buildings in the complex dispite being eligible for a room of my choosing. The room made my asthma flare up as it was so old so I don't recommend taking the old buildings if you have any breathing problems. Overall it was fine.

The location is the best among all student accommodations, private and non-private. It's right in the city centre but still not far away from my classes. Facilities are all new and nice, I'm very lucky to be one of the first to use it. They also organise events throughout the term and visits to all sorts of places which is one of the best reason to stay in Queen's Elms. The room is lovely too, we all have an option for ensuite room or a studio room which is the best because you don't have to share a bathroom with others, and for ensuite rooms, we only share the kitchen with 3 to 5 more people which is not too bad. Internet is 24/7 perfect which is amazing, but only downside is that I don't think it's worth the money yet because they do not provide a cleaner for our kitchen. Other than that, everything's fabulous!

I'm living in a premium standard room. The room is great and the amenities is fully equipped. The kitchen is big enough to support all the students. However, the number of toilets is lacking as 6 person would need to share one toilet. Elms is a great place as it gathers most of the first year students. Although it is a bit further as compared to the elms houses, it is definitely worth it.

Elms Villiage a very good place ro start uni at Queens and meet new friends from different backgrounds. All seems well with elms with a shop, common area, washing machines and computers onsite. However there is alot wrong with elms aswell the security are very harsh and sometimes quite threatening even for a little bit of noise. The location is quite far away from queens as the only way you can go essentially is right. My room was quite small and looked like a prison cell if not decorated, the common area was also quite worn down. The social life is quite good until security shut you down. Overlal i would reccommend going into halls however be very wary of all these above flaws.

The halls are situated around 15 minutes away from the main university campus. They are quite confident due to their closeness to a large spar a minute away and then a few hundred metres away a large Tesco on the lisburn road. However for the nightlife it is quite awkward and far away. It was easy to meet friends however events held at Elms are often catered for international students. Ping pong and pool tables were provided as well as board games and an Xbox to provide for people's social needs as well as relaxing sofa areas in the treehouse. Staff at elms were largely friendly apart from security who were very intimidating and threatening towards students. The room for standard an shite was very basic quite similar to a prison cell vibe the light did not properly cover the entire room especially when looking in cupboards. The internet was fast but would cut out at times depending on where you were, in the kitchen. It was nearly non existent. Overall it was a good experience quite good value for money.

The halls themselves were clean and a cleaner came in each week. 8 rooms per halls was a good number. However, it was very expensive and there were not many student activités held.

Everything you need in student accommodation and very close to uni. Was easy meeting people as the flats were large. Parking available.

Elms Location: 10 mins walk to the local Tesco’s. But closer shops included Mace (within the halls vicinity) and spar (5 mins away). Approx. 20 min walk to the Lanyon building/library. Facilities: Washing machines: useful but not always great for cleaning everything. Computer room: very handy for last minute work Social experience: Great. Mixed me with similar people, as a result all got on well. Room: small but nice. Had everything that was needed and big social area in the kitchen meant didn’t need to hang about in room.

Great facilities with options for your own en suite in your room. Bright, open plan kitchen with plenty of storage space. Good opportunity to meet and make new friends who I still hang out with.

Elms village is one of Queen's student accommodation located approx. 20 mins away from the Lanyon building. It is very big and clean and has complete facilities for students. The treehouse in Elms is a place for students to socialise, hangout and meet new people. It also has a study area to accommodate students for revision and group work. As there are approximately 8 rooms in one floor, you get to meet new friends from all over the world and expand your social circle. The people are very friendly and nice and would often ask you for a night out. The rooms are very clean and comfortable.

Elms Village is a very safe and closed area that is perfect for first year students. The rooms are roomy and the kitchens large and bright. There is a 24 hour reception and 24 hour social space (The Treehouse) that serves free tea and coffee during the week, a study and computer lounge, plus ping pong and pool tables. As far as uni accomodation goes, there's not much else you could ask for. The only downsides to Elms would be the price and the way in which accomodation is allocated. The closer you live to Belfast, the less likely you are are to receive a room in Elms. This means that international and GB students are always guaranteed a room and with the University's push to have more students from abroad, there are far fewer spaces for NI students, some who may still live over an hour away from Belfast. This year the allocation of rooms was nothing short of diasterous for NI students, receiving an email only a few weeks before the start of term to let them know they were probably not going to receive a space (but still might). The effect of not getting into Halls in first year often has a detrimental effect on the uni experience - with students being forced to seek spare rooms with final year students or commute long distances every morning and night. Surely if you put QUB as your first choice and were loyal to them throughout your UCAS application, applying to Elms the day applications opened, you should be more entitled to a room at Elms than a GB student who put QUB as their last choice and didn't apply till they got their results at the end of August.

I really enjoyed my stay in Elms as I had the opportunity to make friends from different countries and courses. The room I stayed in was also really new and refurbished making my stay there even more enjoyable!

It was really great and I love murine there. It really helped to settle int the university experience and atmosphere! It was really great to get to know others.

I really enjoyed my stay in elms because it was just renewed, meaning the facilities and room were all new. The room was relatively cosy and when there was some problem with any part of the room, help was prompt. Social experience was amazing as I had the opportunity to meet people from other courses and countries.

It's just luck who you get out with and I got lucky. The rooms and kitchen are decent, it depends on what time of room you go for. I would reccomend standard ensuite. Despite high security usually being a good thing, this is a downfall for elms as they are too strict. They complain about unnecessary things such as posters on the kitchen wall and you must have a fob and student ID to get in after 11 which makes having friends over difficult. It is also quite a long walk from uni, of 15 minutes.

Good location, close to the university. Lots of amenities around the area within walking distance. Plenty of social activities and things to do.

I really love living in Elms for first year halls, the rooms are a good size and have everything you need with a very large desk and the kitchens have plenty of storage for food and sofas and a TV! Also always very social and I have met most of my closest friends through living in halls.

Location is pretty good, only it is pretty far from the city. The price of the accommodation is crazy, and I used all of my student loan + 1600 from my own pocket to afford it. As far as the staff and security, they were simply rude. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, but as a whole, for the money spent on it, the star rating is justified.

The location of Elms is what makes it so good, you are 15 minutes walk to the uni, 1 minute away from a Spar shop, 5 minutes from a couple of really nice pubs and some fast food places. The facilities in Elms are first class, you have the treehouse social area which comprises of a Mace corner shop which is well stocked so you could do a weeks shopping in there for a fairly cheap price, you have pool tables and a coffee bar with big tvs to watch sports on. There are ping pong tables and a laundromat which is again, fairly cheap, as well as a computer room with computers, desks and printers. There are several bikes sheds around elms itself and three smoking areas. The actuals rooms are spacious whilst being well heated, the showers are great but the bathrooms in general are compact. The rooms have apt storage space and shelves as well as a big desk and loads of electrical plugs. The social experience of elms has given me some friends for life and you meet a wide variety of people in the place. Living with foreign students from England or further away is a pleasure. Overal Elms is a great place to live in first year, the only complaint I could make is that sometimes the cooker in our flat would act up and not work properly.
