Nervous about heading off to uni? Student Hut has put together a definitive list of movies you need to watch to get excited rather than stressed!

Yes, it's that time of year – summer is coming to an end, and university is becoming very very real. You’ve done the IKEA shop and you've bought all your stationery for the year ahead, and now the nerves are starting to set in.

But fear not, the pre-university jitters are completely natural- we’ve all been there.

Luckily, you still have some time at home to relax and switch off from all the university stress. At times like these, TV is definitely your friend!

Student Hut has put together a definitive list of movies you need to watch before you head-off. These movies are all set on a university campus, so they will help you get excited about heading off to uni, rather than nervous.

Bad Neighbours (2014)

Bad Neighbours shows the fun side of university – full of partying and wild antics, this is the perfect movie to get you pumped for your first day of university. If you want to channel your inner party animal ready for the new term, this is the one for you.

A movie list is never be complete without a Disney film. Follow Mike and Sulley on their university journey, as they navigate everything from friendships, to choosing societies. Monsters University is a feel-good and fun movie to get you in the mood for campus life.

Back to School (1986)

The phrase that fills every student with fear and makes them want to hide under their bed forever. Don’t worry though, this comedy about a wealthy father going back to college to encourage his son will make you laugh until your stomach hurts.

Animal House (1978)

This movie has a few fairly obvious themes – drinking and partying! This movie unashamedly represents the students who aren’t really at uni to learn. This light hearted comedy will certainly get you hyped for the social side of university. (Just remember life is all about balance though!)

Real Genius (1985)

This geeky old school 80s movie makes science look fun again! Coupled with massive parties, this is proof that anybody can have fun-wherever they are. This movie is for everyone, and definitely a good one to get all your friends’ round, have a good time and a good laugh before you all venture off.

Pitch Perfect (2012)

Pitch Perfect shows that getting involved in university life (think clubs and societies!) is rather important when you first rock up on campus. This movie, about an all-girls acapella group, is fun and shows the competitive side that can come with university if you want it to. Thanks mostly to Rebel Wilson, this movie will have you laughing your socks off.

The Theory of Everything (2015)

Whether Steven Hawking is your hero, or you just love a good cry, this movie is sure to tug at the heart strings. Based at Oxford University, this movie follows Hawking through his journey of studying Physics while battling motor neurone disease. The Theory of Everything is a must-see, and an inspiring story that shows no matter what difficulties you face, you will always come out the other side stronger. If you're a fan of Eddie Redmayne you'll love this even more...

Legally Blonde (2001)

Last but not least, Legally Blonde proves you can’t judge a book by its cover. Reese Witherspoon plays Elle Woods, a sorority girl who goes to Harvard Law school to prove to her ex-boyfriend she is smarter than everyone thinks. An empowering watch which will definitely get you in the mood to make your mark at your new university.
