7 Tips for Getting the Most Out of Third Year

Got through to your final year of uni and still feeling unfulfilled? We've got 7 handy tips to help you make the most of your final year.

This is it, you’ve made it through the first two years and you’re on the home stretch, things will start to get pretty stressful over the next few months as the imminent terror of graduation and moving into the adult world approaches. So here is a list of things that you really should do in your third year.

1. Go on a spontaneous trip with your mates

Remember that thing that you and your mates have been talking about doing every time you get a couple of drinks in you? Of course you do. Go and do it!

2. Use your student card as much as you can

There are soooo many student discounts on offer - find them, cherish them and get every saving you can out of them. Paying full price for things is rubbish, so don’t.

3. Take advantage of an interest-free overdraft

Uni is probably the only time in your life you’ll be able to spend money you haven’t earned. Obviously, we aren’t encouraging you to get yourself into a load of debt, but you have an interest free overdraft for a reason, use it!

4. Actually turn up to your lectures and do the reading

You’re still patting yourself on the back for those two consecutive weeks in first year where you actually tried but that was two years ago and every now and then your course can be quite interesting… Give it a go, you might just learn something!

5. Visit a Careers Adviser

This might be the least glamorous piece advice you’ll receive on this list but also could be the most useful. University careers advice services are an unparalleled resource so whether you are set on a career path, or literally have no idea at all, go and have a chat with them?

6. Get dressed up to go out

Take advantage of all the themed nights and parties on offer - it’s great for the ‘gram and more importantly really good fun!

7. Enjoy it!

Finally, make the most of everything on offer. Try not to get too bogged down in all the work and make time to go out and do everything that you want. Uni is as much about creating memories as it is about the grades, don’t lose sight of that!
