Summer is in full swing and getting prepped for holiday can be stressful. Here's our guide for making sure you're ready for your next adventure!

While summer may be a time for you to work and earn some money before uni starts again, that doesn’t mean you can’t spare some time to travel! Here are some absolute essentials you should bring on your next holiday.

1. Noise cancelling headphones

Few things are as bothersome as unwanted noise during transport. Trust me, I’ve been on an eleven hour plane ride with three toddlers in the same aisle as me. Noise cancelling headphones are a godsend.

2.  External battery for your phone

There’s nearly nothing your phone can’t do for you these days, but if it runs out of juice, it basically becomes a useless brick. A battery pack can be bought anywhere, and while they may be expensive, you’ll be thankful for it as your phone hits 1%.

3. A small first aid kit

Now, a lot of my friends think I’m a bit nuts to carry a small ziplock with a few band-aids, lozenges, and pain medication in my bag at all times, but you never know when you might need them.

We all like to wear new shoes or that cute mini dress we know won’t survive the British summer, but what if you get blisters or trip on the pavement after one too many cocktails? Don’t waste your holiday money on boring stuff, bring it from home instead.

4. A foldable rucksack/bag

This is especially useful if you’re going somewhere far. The last thing you want on holiday is to pay extra for luggage fees! There are so many great foldable bags out there that you can keep in your regular bag to switch to if you buy stuff, plus you can use it after your holiday for your big grocery shopping trips to Tesco.

You can find an example of a foldable rucksack here.

5. Important documents (and copies/photos of them)

People like to say that travelling is stressful, but I’m convinced that you can avoid being too stressed out by prepping as much as you can. Obviously you’ll need to bring all your travel documents, but make sure you take photos of your passport and ID so that you won’t panic too much if you lose them or get them stolen.

Another reason you should buy an external battery!

Now ready, jet set, and go!
